About the Course

This one day college certificated course is for owners who would like to learn to groom their dogs at home. Topics covered include bathing, grooming, ear hair, nail clipping, parasites, skin problems and advice on anal glands. Participants must bring a dog with them. Anyone wishing to pursue a career in dog grooming is advised to attend the NPTC/Petcare Trust course also offered at Writtle College.

Certain breeds naturally need more attention e.g. Old English Sheepdogs, Poodles and Labradoodles. Skills are learnt over a longer period of time for these breeds and participants may wish to discuss this with the tutor before booking a place. Please contact short course training on 01245 421782 to arrange this.

We would recommend any dog, especially puppies, attend a grooming parlour or groomers before coming on this course, to familiarise them with surroundings and procedures. This will help to avoid distressing the dog.
