Strategic Planning and Performance Management for Farmer
Principal investigator: Julie BooneStart date: September 2003
Collaborative partner: Food Chain Centre; Dr. Lisa Jack (Essex Univ.)
Running a successful farm means focusing on the customer and the people involved in the business as well as production and finance. That is why the Food Chain Centre (FCC) asked Writtle College to develop and pilot a workbook to help farmers improve their competitive edge. It includes the use of the Balanced Scorecard performance management system used in many industries and successfully on farms in Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Ireland. In conjunction with ADER, Writtle are testing the Farm Scorecard for use during farm business advice visits. A facilitators' manual and on-line support is the next stage.
