Keeping Costs Low

The College aims to help those students who require help with funding, as well as keeping the costs of living within easy reach of students..

Accommodation

Writtle College is committed to keeping accommodation fees as low as possible and prices compare favourably to other institutions offering similar provision. Writtle is one of the few remaining institutions offering catered Halls of Residence and offers an excellent value meal package to all students living on campus.

Food

The College has a number of food outlets. A short walk from the college campus takes you to a small supermarket branch in Writtle village which offers excellent value for money on all groceries and household supplies.

Recreation & Social Life

The Students' Union activities are co-ordinated with students in mind which means that many events are highly subsidised. Food and drink in the recreation centre is much cheaper than normal pub and restaurant prices and local nightclubs hold student nights every week with cheap entry and drinks at promotional prices.

Study Materials/Book Lists

In the rare situation where students on certain courses may be required to purchase small pieces of personal equipment, college staff will advise on the best deals available and place block orders where possible to minimise individual costs as much as possible. Most courses will issue book lists for recommended reading as accompaniment to lectures. Students are not expected to purchase all the books on the list. All recommended texts can be found in the college library. The library and computer suite are open for most of the day and at weekends.

Exclusive Student Offers

For a small annual fee students can purchase an NUS extra card to obtain discounts at many stores and outlets. Cards can be bought from the Student Union office or go on-line for further detauils: www.nusextra.co.uk
