WSD Student Exhibition 2010

WSD Student Exhibition 2010 - Digital art and Design

The Writtle School of Design ushered in the first hint of summer when it opened its annual exhibition on the 20th and 21st of May. Several hundred attendees included the Mayor and Mayoress of Chelmsford, alumni, practitioners, families, visiting organisations, and, of course, staff and students from the College. Many of the attendees proclaimed it to be a superb exhibition, including visitors from the Royal Society for the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), the Landscape Institute, and Essex and Chelmsford Councils.

The annual exhibition is the Writtle School of Design’s premiere opportunity to showcase the impressive range of skills its students possess. Students in both the postgraduate and undergraduate Landscape Architecture and Landscape and Garden Design showed work that integrated a high degree of conceptual finish as well as being grounded in practical environmental matters. Interior Design and Interior Architecture presented highly impressive work in an exciting installation. Digital Art and Design also provided a highlight and a talking point with challenging and provocative work in a variety of media. All courses displayed a high degree of skill in making and exploring in a wide range of media, showing expertise in drawing, model-making, and computer representation to name but a few. This fluency in materials and methods as part of the design and artistic process is a signature of the Writtle School of Design.
